Escape Rooms!

Baton Rouge has its moments of being hip and an example of this is having the 13th Gate Escape Game! For those not familiar with this - an Escape Room/Game is an activity for a group of people where you are locked in a room for 60min and you have to solve clues to escape!

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be an adventurer like Indiana Jones or a Tomb Raider like Laura Croft? Or maybe how it would feel to be trapped in a horror movie like Saw or Silence of the Lambs? Could you escape a maximum security prison or survive a night in a Haunted Asylum? How about go undercover to rescue a secret agent and your country from mass destruction?

Imagine you and your friends, family, or colleagues are trapped in a highly realistic, themed series of rooms. With only 60 minutes to escape, you must work together as a team as you race against the clock to explore your surroundings using logic, instinct, and critical thinking to find secret passages, solve puzzles, crack codes, and uncover hidden mysteries that will ultimately lead to your escape. Do you think you have what it takes?

We did this for the first time when my dad and sister were visiting for Thanksgiving. We chose the Death Row room and it was SO HARD. We barely got any of the clues without the help from the voice of God (aka the person watching you on camera the whole time). Even though we failed MISERABLY - we still had a blast and it was a totally memorable experience.

Then, just last Friday, we did it again but this time with a group of friends and a different room! This time we did the Collector room and we KICKED BUTT!!! Like totally different experience from the first time. We finished the entire thing in just a little over 30 minutes and we ended up having the second best time on record for the room! I don't think we would of done this well if we hadn't gone through it the first time. Knowing what to expect was HUGE!

I had a lot of fun in both Escape Rooms that we tried out and would highly recommend it as an activity for any group of people (family, friends, coworkers, etc). I hope they have one in MA that we can go and try!!

  1. Looks like so much fun! There's an Escape Room business that opened up in my town and I'm wanting to try it out. There's only one theme though. I like that the one you went to has all those statistics that show how you did in each area.
