Wedding Reception - Part 1

I am determined to get through the rest of the wedding posts this week so that I can start sharing all things Hawaii!!

To catch up on the wedding posts... check them out here!

We had our wedding reception at Zukas Hilltop Barn and it was everything we could of hoped for! It was a tented wedding, up on a high hill, with a pond and lots of woods. The dance floor was cement so no one had to worry about high heels on the grass and the tent was connected to the building so if it had rained (thank goodness it didn't) the guests wouldn't have had to go outside! The price of the venue even included two cakes (one for display and another to have as a second flavor option).

Our coordinator was awesome.
She made the night go so smooth and was really easy to work with leading up to the wedding. I can't say enough nice things about her!

Our centerpieces were pretty simple. White lanterns, a small vase of babies breath and were on slabs of wood that Ryan and I got, sanded and polyurethaned.

Cocktail hour started at 4:00pm and the reception started at 5:00pm.

The wedding party danced in and we were introduced...

Ryan made a speech...

And we transitioned into our first dance!
We danced to "Red is the Rose" by The High Kings

After our dance we did a Lithuanian Wedding tradition as explained by my sister.

This is a classic Lithuanian wedding tradition between the parents and the bride and groom. Ryan & Nikki are about to eat some bread with salt and wine.
With the bread the parents are hoping that their children will never be hungry or be in need.
With the salt, they are reminding the couple that their life may be difficult at times, and they must learn to cope with life's struggles.
With the water, they are hoping that the couple will never thirst and wish that they have a life of good health, and good cheer and share the company of good friends.
Both parents will then kiss the newly married couple as a sign of welcome, unity and love.

Ryan goes "lay it on me" to my dad... for the record they did not kiss lol.

Ryan's mom said an Irish blessing...

My dad made a speech...

Followed by the Maid of Honor Speech (my sister)...

And the Best Man Speech (Ryan's best friend from college)!

All the speeches were great! Perfect mixes of sentimental, funny and sweet.

Following the speeches, dinner was served!
Our guests got...

Course 1: Caesar Salad
Course 2 :Pasta with Marinara Sauce and Parmesan
Course 3: Either Spinach & Red Pepper Stuffed Chicken Breast or Falafel Crusted Cod with Cucumber Mint Slaw
Course 4: Almond Raspberry or Double Chocolate Cake

In between the 2nd and 3rd course we cut the cake!

When dinner was done... the party started!!
Come back tomorrow for Part 2 of the reception!
