Weekend Recap - Dance Recital Edition
I danced for 15 years growing up and it was a really big part of my childhood. My first year of dance was also the studios first year. It all started out in a basement of a church with only a couple hand-fulls of kids... Flash forward 24 years later, the studio now is in a building with 3 different dance studios, hundreds of kids and national rankings. The owners of the studio are family (they were at our wedding) and I have always tried to stay involved in the dance world. Now that we live in Massachusetts close by to where I grew up, I have been able to help out with the dance recitals and that is exactly what my Saturday was filed with!
I worked in the left wing making sure little dancers got off stage when they should of, helped with costume changes and monitored the escorted dancers back and forth behind the stage curtain.
3 recitals
12+ hours
And loved every minute of it!
My mom actually came to all 3 shows too. She was assigned the job of "woo-ing" in the crowd to get the audience going... seriously. I could hear her woo-ing from back stage and I could hear the audience get into it from that. Hilarious.
Once a dance mom... always a dance mom.
I've always said that I only want boys for children but seeing all the little girls in their fluffy tutus dancing on stage... it makes me really want a little girl of my own. We will see what God has in store for Ryan and me someday!
Sunday I was basically dead to the world all morning. I didn't sit at all on Saturday (seriously) and my feet were totally feeling it. So I planted myself on our bed and folded 4 loads of laundry. #Win
By the afternoon I rallied - went food shopping and got some other chores done.
In the evening - we went to Wrights Chicken Farm. The tradition is for the dance staff family to celebrate a successful dance recital and go out to dinner together the day following the shows! It was so nice to celebrate with everyone! Cheers to 24 great years!
