The Great Flood of 2016

In case you missed it…

Most of Louisiana experienced a crazy flood this past weekend.

The news titled it "The Great Flood of 2016

Starting Thursday night the storms really started to pick up. It took me a while to go to sleep that night because you could feel the thunder shake the apartment. Come Friday morning I woke up to a bunch of texts from my boyfriend. He goes into work for 5am and when I woke at 6am to get ready for work he warned me how bad the roads were and basically made the call that it wasn't worth driving in it and not to go to work. So I didn't. So Friday - there was a lot of olympics, bunny cuddles and reading. Saturday the news said not to go out unless you needed to evacuate so we made the call to stay in. The rain did let up a bit in the afternoon so we went out to explore:

Thankfully our neighborhood had zero flooding and maintained power throughout the whole weekend. We have been thanking God all weekend for this. Just a block over the roads were completely un-drivable and just by a strange stroke of luck and divine intervention we had no issues.

Sunday morning we got up and really ventured out for the first time to go to church. It was unbelievable how empty the mass was. After church we were going to go food shop but when we drove up to the Win Dixie… the line was out the door and around the corner. We made the decision that we had enough food to get us through the rest of the week and left.

Louisiana residents are resilient. I had coworkers who had to evacuate and the amount of optimism they showed as their houses flooded was truly something to experience.

Then you have people like this… making light of a horrible situation…

The number 1 question seems to be - how can we help?
KSLA News 12 seems to have summarized it the best:

I am so thankful we were safe and unaffected by the floods and I keep praying for everyone whose lives have been turned upside down from this past weekend.
