Tsum Tsum-ing Around Disney

Ok I'm back! Phew! What a week! From last Tuesday (11/24) to yesterday (11/30), I have been on a Universal and Disney World adventure in Orlando! If you want an extremely fun, but totally NOT relaxing vacation - Orlando is for you!

As you may recall from an earlier posting (see here) - I discovered and fell in love with these mini disney stuffed animals called Tsum Tsums. We got the Eeyor and Tigger ones to be our trip mascots!

I converted them to have loops so that we could easily transport them (and later for them to become Christmas ornaments) - Just a soft ribbon and some quick sewing!

(Please ignore the bathroom background … I do 90% of all sewing projects from my bed!)

So this is our Disney/Universal adventure (as told by Tsum Tsums):

11/24 - Drive to Orlando! We were afraid of traffic the Wednesday before Thanksgiving so we decided to drive the 10hrs after we got out of work on Tuesday. Arrival: 3:15am….

The start of our journey!

Tsum Tsum's in the tunnel going through Mobile Alabama

11/25 - Super slow morning which involved sleeping in and a hot tub/pool excursion. In the afternoon we went to Downtown Disney… which is now called Disney Springs.

My boyfriend had to do some work from the hotel in the am - the Tsum Tsum's hung out with me!

Hanging out on the bridge at sunset in Disney Springs.

11/26 - Happy thanksgiving! We did two parks this day - Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios! This was our only Universal day and we successfully crammed 2 parks into one! Truth time: I was in it for Harry Potter World! My boyfriend loved Universal - if you are a fan of 4D simulated rides - Universal is for you! If you are like me… and are prone to motion sickness with simulated rides... stick with Disney World!

The Tsum Tsum's watching a Wizard play in Diagon Alley (Universal Studios)

At the Fear Factor live show - yes they made people do some ridiculous stunts. To name a few… a lady put 5 scorpions on her head, two poor volunteers tried (and failed) to drink ground up worms and curdled milk and a guy had to climb on a car while it was suspended from the ceiling. Great show … and I was completely happy to enjoy it form my seat!

Waiting in line for the Minion ride!

11/27 - Epcot! This park is super unique. You get the typical Disney rides, but you also get a mini taste of a bunch of different cultures! The World Showcase, or the long walk around the lake, consists of different "worlds" you can travel through. Each world appeared to have 2 restaurants- one on the classier side ($$$) and one for quick dinning ($-$$). We ate in Morocco at the restaurant Marrakesh. We figured that would be something completely different from what we were used to… and it was! Super yummy! We also got to do some behind the scenes stuff which I will get into in another post… stay tuned!

Just taking in the view of the giant Golf ball!

Ate lunch next to a garden that was completely full of poinsettias! So much Christmas!

At the waterfall in "Canada"

11/28 - Magic Kingdom! There is so much to say about Magic Kingdom it is hard to find a place to start! First off, the new 7 dwarfs mine ride was really fun! Totally recommend it. Second, Magic Kingdom at Christmas is hard to beat. You got decorations everywhere and they even cater the shows to have the holiday spirit! Third, the best part of the day is from 7-9pm. You get a mini show put on by the cast of Frozen that decorate the castle to be covered in icicles, then the electrical parade on main street, followed by the wishes show projected on the castle and finally the fireworks! Magic Kingdom is my favorite!

This was our lunch view!

On the Carousel of Progress Ride

At night after the castle was all lit up!

11/29 - Hollywood Studios! This park does not have very many rides. You got the 3 popular ones: Tower of Terror (we did this 3 times), the Rockin Roller Coaster and the new Toy Story Mania Ride. Where the park lacks in rides, it excels in shows!! There is the Beauty and the Beast mini Musical, the Lights Camera Action stunt show, the Indiana Jones performance and the Fantasmic night show. With some planning, you can see all 4 shows and ride all of the rides!

Waiting in line for the new Toy Story Mania Ride. 2 Hours. Yup, 120 minutes. Yes it is a lot of fun, but worth a 2 hour wait? Not so sure.

11/30 - Car ride home! Nothing exciting to mention here!

We had a fantastic trip! I apologize now for the influx of Disney Posts that may be coming your way! I will try and spread them out! I just have so much to share!

Happy December 1st! <3 WC
